Citizenship
With facilities in over 40 communities
across the globe and customers in 160 countries, CNH is truly a citizen of the
world. It is a role we take seriously.
As a leader in the agricultural and construction equipment industry, we
believe our responsibilities go beyond the products we sell and extend to the
people we touch—our employees, our customers, our
communities and the world at large. In this regard, we recognize that our
performance is not only measured by our bottom-line results—but also in terms of the positive impact we can have on the world around
us.
We believe our commitment to good corporate citizenship—at the local level and on the global stage—is a key element of the way we do business and an important part of who
we are.
CNH
CITIZENSHIP INITIATIVES
- Community Affairs: CNH is involved in making our communities better places to live,
work and raise a family. We are pleased to provide financial support
to a wide range of local civic groups, educational institutions,
non-profit organizations, culture/arts societies and health and human
service organizations around the world—including United Way,
which also enjoys strong support from employees. In addition, CNH
encourages employees to play an active role in their communities by
serving on local boards, charities, service groups, etc.
- Government Affairs: CNH takes positions on public policies and issues that affect our
business, our customers/markets, trade and the environment and works
closely with government officials worldwide to support initiatives that
are consistent with our values and goals. Our award-winning website www.cnhtrade.com is designed to help educate employees, their children and
the general public on the importance of international trade.
- Environmental, Health and
Safety Initiatives (EHS): CNH
is committed to designing and building products that are compliant and
environmental, health and safety requirments of our customers and the
world community—with a focus on improving fuel efficiency, reducing
emissions and reducing the effects of noise pollution on workers and
the surrounding community. We have an ongoing pollution prevention
programs to reduce industrial waste, air emissions and water usage.
We also have regional programs designed to implement environmental
management practices and compliance, to promote continuing
environmental improvements and to identify and evaluate environmental
risks at manufacturing and other facilities worldwide.
- Outreach: With employees and customers on nearly every continent, CNH is
engaged in world affairs and is committed to playing an active role as a
responsible global citizen. We are ready to lend a hand with
financial support, equipment donations or volunteers—as we
did following the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004, when we joined
with our global alliance partner Kobelco to contribute $1 million in aid
(including construction equipment w/operators), or more recently following
Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast, when we donated more than $1 million
in construction equipment and matched employee donations to the Red Cross
and Salvation Army dollar-for-dollar.
